Description

Day 1 Paro

Arrive Paro Airport. After visa formalities and collection of baggage, you will meet with our representatives who will receive you and drive to your hotel in Paro. Afternoon visit the National Museum. You will then visit the Paro Rimpung Dzong, which houses the administration centre and religious institute of the valley. This Dzong may be familiar to people who watched Bernardo Burtolucci’s film “ The Little Buddha”. Evening stroll around Paro town.

Day 2 Paro – Thimphu

After breakfast, we will take a 2-hour leisurely drive towards the Capital of Bhutan, Thimphu through the best roads in Bhutan. Enroute you will view Tachogang monastery, built by ThangthongGyalpo (Iron chain builder in Bhutan). Just before reaching to “Chuzom”. At the confluences of Paro – Thimphu River, you will see three forms of chortens in different styles i.e. Nepalese, Tibetan and Bhutanese.  Drive following the Thimphu River upwards passing through several villages. Upon reaching Thimphu, you will be taken to the hotel. After settling down, you can have lunch at the hotel. In the afternoon, you will get to visit The Arts and Craft Institute, The National Library housing repository houses ancient religious and historical manuscripts and The Folk and Heritage Museum where you will get to experience the Bhutanese way of living in a traditional house.

Day 3: Thimphu – Halt

In the, visit Memorial Chorten the was built in the honour of the late third King of Bhutan. This Chorten is centrally located for young and old people to pray.

  • Bhutan Post (Post Office) - As the sole postal organization of Bhutan, Bhutan Post offers you the finest collections of stamps and post cards. You can purchase the finest stamps and cards as a souvenir.

  • The Textile Museum -  This museum displays the finest art of weaving from various regions of Bhutan. You will also be able to see the different fabrics and the intricacies of weaving.

  • The DrubthobGompa Nunnery-  Nuns with sport short hair, who play a vital role in the religious affairs of the local community, are enrolled here.

 

After your visit, you will be taken to have a “ Birds Eye View” of Thimphu valley. En route, you shall also visit the mini zoo to see the national animal “Takin”. You can have your lunch in a reataurant in town. After lunch, you will visit the Handicraft Emporium. You will also get aglimpse of the Palace of the present King in the woods down below but photography is not allowed. Evening of leisure, exploring by your own.

Day 4: Thimphu – Wang due

After breakfast, we depart for Wangdue district, the drive takes around 3 hours drive from the capital Dochula (10,000ft). On a clear day you can get spectacular views of the Himalayas. Many colorful prayer flags of good fortune and the marvellous sight of the 108 stupas all together adds to the exotic scenery of the place. Descending down from the Pass,reaching the valley you can have your lunch over the view of the Chimmi Lhakhang which is a fertility temple.  And then visit Punakha Dzong, on the confluence of two glacial rivers built in the 17th century.

Day 5: Wangdue  – Paro

After breakfast firstly we will drive to Wangdue Phodrang a different province, to see the remains of the burnt Dzong. Drive back to paro with a lunch stop in Thimphu and a visit to the first dzong built in Bhutan on the southern side of the valley in 1629 . Evening at leirsure

Day 6: Paro – Halt

After breakfast, we will drive to the north of Paro Valley to Ramthangkha, from where we start our hike to the Taktsang monastery (Tiger’s Nest). 

Lunch will be served at Taktsang cafeteria. You may visit Drugyaldzong, about a half an hour drive or you can sjop and explore Paro town.

  • You will be endorsed by the immigration officers upon your arrival before you are issued with a permit. Make sure you go personally. You may have to carry your passport (also some passport photographs) or voter’s registration card. If you plan to travel by road, the endorsement is done at the entry points in Phuentsholing, Samdrup Jongkhar, and Gelephu. If by flight, you will enter from the Paro Airport
