Duong Lam Ancient Village has a history of about 1,200 years and is well-known for its surviving laterite brick houses, built three to four hundred years ago. One of the most unique feature of this village is its communal houses and building architecture. Most of the buildings here are made of laterite and mud, two materials that are abundant in the area. Laterite is used on house walls, gates, wells, temple walls, and so forth. The village is also famous nationwide as “the hometown of two kings” where two of Vietnam’s kings, Phung Hung (761-802) and Ngo Quyen (896-944) were born in this village.

You will be picked up at 9:00 am at your hotel lobby in Hanoi. You will drive about 65 km from Hanoi to Son Tay province. Duong Lam is an agricultural village of the Northern Red River Delta. On arrival, you will take a walk on the village path to visit Mong Phu Temple (dedicated to national heroes). You will also got to meet local villagers.

You will enjoy a special Vietnamese lunch in an ancient house. While you are in the house, you can also join the local people in producing local specialties, such as soft green-lentil cake and rice cake filled with brown onion (depending on the season).

After lunch, you will continue to visit Mia Pagoda (built in 15th century), King Ngo Quyen Temple and King Phung Hung Temple.  You will also  visit Son Dong village - the famous sculpt statue village in Hanoi. 

Return to hotel in Hanoi after your tour at the end of the tour.
