Description
Start the tour by heading to the National Palace Museum of Korea. The museum, which opened in 1992, houses over 20,000 royal relics from the Gyeongbokgung Palace, Changdeokgung Palace, Changgyeonggung Palace and Jongmyo Shrine during the Joseon Dynasty. The museum is located south of the Heungnyemun Gate of the Gyeongbukgung Palace, where we'll be heading next.
The Gyeongbukgung Palace is commonly referred to as the Northern Palace because it is the furthest up north when compared to other palaces. It is arguably the most beautiful and remains the grandest of all five palaces. While here, we'll head over to theNational Folk Museum located east within Hyangwonjeong Gate of the palace.
Next, we'll pass by the Samcheongdong-gil Road. This road stretches from Gyeongbokgong Palace to the Samcheong Tunnel, where at the end of the walkway, you'll find Samcheong Park that's famous for its thick forest and scenic views.
We'll head over to the Bukchon Hanok Village, a Korean traditional village with a long history. Composed of several alleys, hanok is preserved to show a 600-year old urban environment.
Our final stop is at Ddeok Museum where we will see 2,000 old Korean utensils and tteok (rice cake) related items that are arranged by various themes. The utensils are handmade household necessities that are ingenuous yet reveal the lifestyle of the working class.
